Take a deep breath. OK, here goes.

Depending on the redistricting outcome for the the State of Texas, I may run for a seat in the U. S. House of Representatives. I have had committments from some of you before, but now, it is time to get SERIOUS. I may need campaign staff as soon as the court decision on redistricting is handed down.
If you have any campaign MANAGEMENT experience & want to help, let me know. If you have any campaign experience & want to help, let me know.
If you have NO experience but want to jump on the progressive change bandwagon, now that you have seen signposts like the Occupy movement, let me know! This could be the most exciting time of our lives people! Let's get ready.
May God guide our efforts.

An open letter to the President of the United States

Dear Mr. President,
As a former & hopefully future delegate for you,
I wish to urge you in the strongest possible terms
to veto the National Defense Authorization Act.
 This Act grants unconstitutional powers,
including the power to imprison people without
 charge or trial - indefinately!
Sir, in my opinion, you should use your
Presidential power, knowledge & oath to
preserve, protect and defend the Constitution
& veto this DANGEROUS piece of legislation,
some are already calling the Police State Act.
 To paraphrase a predecessor:
Mr. Obama, TEAR DOWN THIS BILL.
 Sincerely,
 David Starkey

WHAT THE HELL IS A MEME [pronounced meem]?

There was an ancient Greek word mimema,
pronounced [my me ma], which meant "something copied [imimated]".
it evolved into 2 English words - mime and meme. That's why you may have seen or heard the word meme & wondered what it had to to with the internet. An example of a meme is the "pepperspraying cop" showing up in & on damned near everything for a few days. If you already knew that, sorry to waste your time.
If you are in your 50s, like everyone I went to high school with, you're welcome.

Newt, with a side order of Me.

1. “I’m not a natural leader. I’m too intellectual; I’m too abstract; I think too much.” - admitting that he’s an intellectual elite incapable of leading. [I would make a fine President & I've been a philosopher for over thirty years, am a former Mensa member who has dedicated a lot of his “spare” time to figuring out ways to not just help people, but to ready them for independent living.  That way, we turn tax burdens into tax PAYERS, so he's full of alternative fuel]

2. “If the Soviet empire still existed, I’d be terrified. The fact is, we can afford a fairly ignorant presidency now.”
[AH HA! that explains a lot, but you can NEVER be that relaxed - remember 9/11.  We had an under qualified, smirking failure of a President occupying the most important post in the land.  He took up space where & when we needed a great leader.  If we learn nothing else from that tragic day, we must learn to have non-exploitative foreign policy & ALWAYS a good leader in the White House.]

3. “The idea that a congressman would be tainted by accepting money from private industry or private sources is essentially a socialist argument.”
[Nope, once again a Republicrite has equated moral & legal, with their favorite fear word – socialism.]

4. “Give the park police more ammo.” - responding to a reporter who asked what to do about the homeless a few days after the police shot a homeless man in front of the White House.
[I was hoping the insensitive knucklehead got censured.]

5. “The problem isn’t too little money in political campaigns, but not enough.” – on campaign finance reform.
[No, Newt, making a problem bigger, doesn't solve it.  Basic Logic.]

6. “I have enormous personal ambition. I want to shift the entire planet. And I’m doing it. I am now a famous person. I represent real power.” - Newt Gingrich
[If I ever get that full of myself, please shoot me.]
[OK, that was for comic effect, but obviously there was a need for psychological evaluation.]

7. “Gingrich – Primary mission, advocate of civilization, definer of civilization, teacher of the rules of civilization, leader of the civilizing forces.”
[That is exactly the sort of arrogant elitism that murdered millions of innocent indigenous men, women & children all over the world, making Hitler’s numbers pale in comparison.]

8. “The most serious, systematic revolutionary of modern times.” – describing himself
[See above]

9. “It doesn’t matter what I do.  People need to hear what I have to say.  There’s no one else who can say what I can say.  It doesn’t matter what I live.”
[This is WHY I created the word Republicrite.]

10. “This is one of the great tragedies of the Bush administration. The more successful they’ve been at intercepting and stopping bad guys, the less proof there is that we’re in danger…. It’s almost like they should every once in a while have allowed an attack to get through just to remind us.” - Newt Gingrich, at a book talk in Huntington, NY, April 2008, saying that Republicans should allow terrorist attacks on American soil to remind us of the dangers in the world.
[May God protect the innocent souls he ALLOWS TO BE MURDERED, if he ever gets into the White House.]

11. “Now, we don’t get rid of it in round one because we don’t think that that’s politically smart, and we don’t think that’s the right way to go through a transition. But we believe it’s going to wither on the vine because we think people are voluntarily going to leave it — voluntarily.” - admitting that while they won’t kill Medicare outright, Republicans will try to make it wither on the vine and die
["HOW DOES THIS MAN LOOK INTO A MIRROR AND ACTUALLY LIKE WHAT HE SEES?"]

12. “She isn’t young enough or pretty enough to be the President’s wife.” - talking about his first wife after divorcing her
[See above again]

13. “I read Men Who Hate Women and the Women Who Love Them and I found frightening pieces that related to…my own life.” - talking about his problems with women
[WELL, How could ANY mere mortal measure up to his opinion of himself?”] [Yes, Sarcasm]

14. “It is tragic what we do in the poorest neighborhoods, entrapping children in child laws which are truly stupid…These schools should get rid of unionized janitors, have one master janitor, pay local students to take care of the school.” - apparently advocating for an end to child labor laws so businesses can fire union workers and replace them with cheap labor.
[THIS is what passes for a "good idea" to the Republicrites, something condemned as inhumane over a century ago.]

15. “We should replace bilingual education with immersion in English so people learn the common language of the country and they learn the language of prosperity, not the language of living in a ghetto.” - Demonstrating cultural insensitivity, yet two years later, Gingrich unveiled a new Spanish-language website, The Americano.
[When a politician opens his bigotry closet, PAY ATTENTION.  When he later panders to that same group, REMEMBER.]

16. “The left-wing Democrats will represent the party of total hedonism, total exhibitionism, total bizarreness, total weirdness, and the total right to cripple innocent people in the name of letting hooligans loose.”
[I’m wondering if he is brain-damaged, brainwashed, or brain fried on LSD.    Also, the 2012 field of G.O.P. Presidential candidates could certainly be considered an “exhibition”, or even a “side show”.]

17. “These people are sick. They are so consumed by their own power, by a Mussolini-like ego, that their willingness to run over normal human beings and to destroy honest institutions is unending.”
[This is how he describes the Democrats, while advocating the destruction of anything that helps anyone & tries to help undermine organized labor – remember, it was formed when “honest institutions” refused to do anything about unsafe working conditions AND paid NOTHING to the injured worker, or dead worker’s family.  WHY DON'T AVERAGE AMERICANS PAY ATTENTION to things like this?  HOW DO THESE PEOPLE GET NEARLY HALF THE VOTES?  The desire to help people cannot be held within the mind of a person like he describes.  What he describes is the Republican Party, not the Democratic Party.  The mental health issue he demonstrates is called “transference”.  You may remember it as “no, I’m not, YOU are”.]

18. “I think one of the great problems we have in the Republican Party is that we don’t encourage you to be nasty. We encourage you to be neat, obedient, and loyal and faithful and all those Boy Scout words.”
[HE IS ACTUALLY RIDICULING MORALS FROM WITHIN THE PARTY THAT CLAIMS TO BE THE MORAL ONE.  Think for just a moment about how Jesus treated people.  Now, think of the 2 parties and the actions they have taken within your lifetime.  I think that’s all I need to say.]

Creativity, Intelligence, REM sleep & Depression

There is research currently being done that will, eventually, link creativity, intelligence, REM sleep & depression. Half the connections are already known.
Basically, it works like this: The more creative & intelligent you are, the more likely you are to run 'scenarios' in your sleep. Most of the time, they fail, causing the depression link. The most creative & intelligent, will find, either consciously or unconsciously, an eventual successful outcome to the scenario. Thus, we evolved, because the ones who were more adaptable mentally lived & reproduced, while the ones less successful & prepared, got squished.

This is why a LOT of geniuses & creative people [note comedians here] suffer from depression. HUMOR IS A DEFENSE MECHANISM.
Before my depression was discovered/diagnosed,
people either didn't want to be around me because I was too negative,
or DID like being around me, because I was funny.
A creative person, depressed about reality, will find a way to laugh about it, if for no other reason, than to keep from crying.

Also, a 5’ 6”, 115 lb. high school student*, can use humor as verbal kung fu.
*[I now weigh 230, exactly twice as much.  It’s like I cloned myself & ate him.]

THE COMMON PARTY [name negotiable]

THE COMMON PARTY [name negotiable]
[Occupant Party?  Occupation Party sounds a bit too agressive]

The Common Party is for the common man, woman & child.

It is organized around 3 pillars:

A POLITICAL PARTY: for working people, the middle class & below, the 'have-nots'.
A CONSUMER ORGANIZATION: for better protection from corporations only out for profit.
A LABOR ORGANIZATION: for keeping existing jobs here, and bringing in new ones.

PRECEPTS:

Profit is a good thing, but not the ONLY thing.
IF WE CAN'T GET RID OF LOBBYISTS, WE MUST SEND OUR OWN!
Logic alone is not enough; compassion must be added.
Protection of the innocent individual is moral; protection of the abusive corporation is not.
There is power in numbers, & American consumers are the most powerful economic force in history, and should be organized.
[Sooner, rather than later, we slip a little further every day.]
A Ford built in Mexico is NOT an "American car"; A Hyundai built in Alabama IS.
[Why?  BECAUSE WE SAY SO!]  We, the consumers are 71% of the economy.
We must all live in the environment, including the descendants of those who don't care about it.
Fuel cells require a distribution network [and the use of dangerous hydrogen] hybrids and electrics do not.
Other cultures are just as valid as ours, if not more so.
The way to restore America's prestige in the global community is to be a friend, not a greedy bully.
One of the best ways to be accepted is to be accepting.
God made blacks, Hispanics, females, and homosexuals; Man made bigotry.
If men had babies, there would be no questioning of reproductive rights.
The death penalty can't be undone if given to the wrong person.
Life without parole can.
My "Hybrid Economic System" is the next logical choice.
You start with a socialist base: Some things need to be done ALL THE TIME & are good for ALL the people.
So, infrastructure repair & construction, ignored for so long, becomes an economic CONSTANT.
Also, in the interest of giving people a hand up, everyone in poverty, or who has 'slipped through the cracks in the system' gets food, clothing, shelter, education & health care.
"Whatsoever you do unto the least of these my brethren, you do unto me."
THEN, you put your re-regulated capitalist economy on top of that: if anyone wants more, they get off their butts and EARN it!
The 2 systems working together cancel out each others negatives.
There is no stagnation under socialism, because capitalism is there to provide incentive.
And, the fluctuations under capitalism are mitigated by the constant level of activity under the socialist base.
ex: X lives in a barracks style facility. He lives in one large room with 80-100 others. He has a locker and half a bunk bed. He has a roof over his head, but he wants more.
He wants his own place. He gets educated in something he enjoys doing, gets a job doing it, and gets a 1 bedroom apartment. He is on his way up.
[Feel free to forward this to the Occupy Movement.]
[CONSERVATIVES: YOU should love this, it turns tax burdens into taxpayers!]
Note: I started with 2 premises:
There must be incentive and
Capitalism fluctuates too much & can be cruel.
Then, I used logic, compassion, a pinch of electronics & Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs to create a new system.

Make it so.

Well, this should be an interesting experience / experiment.
Do I have interesting things to say?  Absolutely.
Do I have important things to say?  Absoprobably.
Will I be able to accomplish my goal of becoming Thomas Paine 2.0?
Wow, that would be a tall order...  more on that later.
But there are alarming things afoot, which wasn't the reason this started today.
There are also fantastic things afoot, but that's not it either.
I've been a philosopher for over 30 years now, so, although it, and the previous 2 items factor into the equation, still not the reason for it starting today.  I started today because a blogger said that someone needed to take a shit on Jack Kennedy.  I responded with:

You're lame.
You don't know the difference between good writing & stringing together catch-phrases.
Your mastery of logic is still in negative intigers.
The Afghan war should have been OVER by the time "DUHbya" started draining off resources to invade Iraq, [Arabic for "land of no WMD's"].
The echo chamber - that's really a metaphor for your empty head, right?
No, I'm not proud of myself, but I had to start somewhere.
More about John F. Kennedy later too.
